Scottish law firm builds on construction offering with appointment of new partner

Posted: 1st October 2019

A construction specialist solicitor is set to join Scottish firm Wright, Johnston & Mackenzie LLP as Partner.

Ross Taylor, who has headed up Taylor Law in Dunfermline for the last ten years, will be working as part of the firm’s construction team from October, specialising in contentious construction disputes.

Ross has extensive experience of working with a cross-section of clients in the construction industry, from sole traders, to SME contractors, to national commercial developers.  He also has strong expertise in working with private self-builders.

Roddy Cormack, Legal Director and Head of Construction at WJM, said: “It’s fantastic to have Ross on board.  His expertise in contentious construction disputes will be a great asset to our team and will really complement the services we currently offer to our clients in the construction industry.”

The University of Dundee graduate worked as a general litigator before obtaining a masters in construction law from the Glasgow Graduate School of Law in 2005.

Ross went on to work for various regional and national firms before setting up his own practice in 2010.

Ross said: “I’m excited to be joining such highly regarded and innovative practice as WJM and I am looking forward to working with the construction team to strengthen the firm’s offering in this sector.

“As well as continuing to serve my existing clients, it’ll be a great opportunity to grow with the team to enhance our services at a national level.”

Ross joins a team of construction solicitors at WJM based across the firm’s five Scottish offices, who specialise in planning, commercial litigation, procurement, and non-contentious construction.

As part of WJM, Ross will continue to provide legal services to all existing clients, and WJM will oversee the transfer and retention of all documents held on their behalf.
