A new ‘action attraction’, the first of its kind in Scotland, is set to launch at Edinburgh’s International Climbing Arena (EICA): Ratho during the Easter holidays.

Clip ‘n Climb, which is being opened by Edinburgh Leisure, offers a fun and accessible climbing experience based around a variety of themed challenges on brightly coloured walls which are designed to offer an exciting range of physical and mental tests.

The concept, first pioneered in New Zealand, allows you to simply be clipped onto an automatic belay system and start climbing without the need for a partner, making climbing safe and accessible for everyone, from pre-school kids to retirees. 15 different challenges will be available, with 20 climbing lines, at each hour long session.

Remko Plooij, Director of Operations at Edinburgh Leisure said: “The beauty of Clip ‘n Climb is that unlike traditional climbing no previous experience or training is required, apart from our statutory 10 minute briefing at the start of each hour’s session. It offers the challenge of climbing in a safe, accessible environment and it really does appeal to everyone from 4 to 84 years and beyond – something the whole family can participate in.”

“The introduction of Clip ‘n Climb at Ratho compliments all the other activities we have on offer: soft play, climbing in the amazing arena, a fantastic gym and let’s not forget the cafe and guarantees a great day out for the whole family. And we also see it as something that will have a huge appeal to adult groups including hen and stag parties and companies looking for a team building event.”

Clip ‘n Climb is Edinburgh Leisure’s half million pound investment has created seven new jobs.
