Rhythmic gymnastics classes to start at Kirkliston

Posted: 20th December 2019

Edinburgh Leisure will be introducing rhythmic gymnastics classes at Kirkliston Leisure Centre, starting in the new year and aimed at Primary 1 and up.

A free taster, which must be booked in advance, will be offered on Sunday 12th January 2020 with two classes in Rhythmic Entry/Stage 1 at 13:45 – 14:45 and again at 14:45 – 15:45.  The classes will then run from 19 January 2020 weekly and must be booked and paid for as a course.

This will be the first time that Rhythmic Gymnastics has been offered by Edinburgh Leisure and is open to both boys and girls to learn and perform the moves and skills displayed in Rhythmic Gymnastics. Participants will learn how to move gracefully with the five pieces of Rhythmic apparatus (hoop, ribbon, ball, rope and clubs).  No previous experience is required to get started, but a love of dance, and creativity goes a long way.

Classes will also cover dynamic balances, flexibility stretches and strength work.  All children start at Entry Stage where they master the basic skills and move up.

Currently Edinburgh Leisure, the British and Scottish Gymnastics club structure only currently provides a pathway for girls and women for Rhythmic, however this may change as the structure is being reviewed.

Edinburgh Leisure is the biggest provider of sports coaching services in the city.  They have 14 sports programmes taking place every week at their venues and pride themselves on welcoming everyone, regardless of age or stage to join them.

So, if you’re interested in learning to swim, climb, or something in between, they have it covered. Their quality sports programmes are led by dedicated sports coaches and teachers, and they pride themselves on delivering an excellent progressive learning experience in a fun environment.

To book onto the taster session on 12 January, customers should telephone 0131 458 2100.

To book onto the course from 19 January 2020, customers should contact Kirkliston via email.
