Registration now open for the LNER Forums 2020

Posted: 7th October 2020

As mentioned within previous updates, whilst we cannot hold a stakeholder conference in-person this year, we are hosting two interactive, online Forumsone for Scotland and one for England.

Please join us to hear the latest from LNER, ask questions of senior members of our team and to share your thoughts on how we can deliver for our destinations and communities.

Registration is now open for the events. Please register via the below links:

Both Forums will run from 10am to no later than 4pm, with an agenda provided in advance so you can participate in the whole event or only those topics of greatest interest to you. Attendees will also be able to submit questions in advance as well as ask them during the sessions.

To keep up to date with news about the Forums, including future events, you can visit – www.LNER.co.uk/Forum.

Record levels of cleaning to keep customers and staff safe

As you are aware, we increased the already high levels of cleaning measures at stations, onboard trains and Travel Centres earlier this year as the Coronavirus pandemic first broke-out in the UK.

More than 140 swabs have been carried out since July to test for traces of Covid-19 on high-frequency touch points. All tests have returned negative results thanks to the intense frequency of cleaning processes carried out by our team of 280 cleaning staff.

Since March more than 307,000 hours of cleaning have been undertaken by cleaning teams stretching across the 936 miles of LNER route, and more than 184,000 litres of sustainable cleaning chemicals used by the teams.

King’s Cross closures in October, November and at Christmas

As part of our partnership with Network Rail to safely deliver the East Coast Upgrade, there will be no trains to or from London on the weekends of October 17-18 and November 20-21.

There will also be significant planned disruption over Christmas, with King’s Cross Station to be closed for six days. There will also be reduced services and extended journey times on the days either side of the closure.

Our dedicated webpage provides the latest travel information for the works this year and into 2021 when further significant disruption is planned: https://www.LNER.co.uk/EastCoastUpgrade

Hot food returns to our trains

As part of our work to return our full range of services in line with our COVID Aware safe travel pledge, a selection of hot food has been reintroduced on our services.

Customers in First Class now receive a complimentary ‘at seat’ breakfast offer from a menu which includes bacon rolls, Quorn sausage muffins and Danish pastries, served until 10am. Customers travelling thereafter have been able to once again enjoy a choice of sandwiches, crisps, biscuits and snacks and a hot or cold drink until 10pm. Sandwiches and meal deals have also been reintroduced in Standard Class and are available from the Cafe Bar.

Our catering approach supports our regional suppliers along the East Coast route and has been redesigned to minimise contact between customers and staff.  LNER services remain alcohol free.

If you have any questions about LNER, please let us know. We can be contacted via publicaffairs@lner.co.uk.

The latest coronavirus information can be found on the dedicated page on our website lner.co.uk/travel-information/coronavirus-travel-information/ and Twitter @LNER

Questions relating to tickets and personal travel should continue to be directed to our Customer Service Team.
