Red Evolution Celebrates B Corp Certification
Scottish Digital Marketing Agency, Red Evolution, has been recognised for maintaining an ethical and transparent approach to its business, through the achievement of B Corp Certification.
Red Evolution were in the first cohort of Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce members to undertake the B Corp certification process and were coached by the Chamber team through the complex application process and demanding evaluation of the business’s operations.
The agency has been certified by B Lab, the not-for-profit behind the B Corp movement, as having met rigorous social and environmental standards which represent its commitment to goals outside of shareholder profit.
The B Corp certification addresses the entirety of a business’s operations and covers five key impact areas of Governance, Workers, Community, Environment and Customers. The certification process is rigorous, with applicants required to reach a benchmark score of over 80 while providing evidence of socially and environmentally responsible practices relating to energy supplies, waste and water use, worker compensation, diversity and corporate transparency. To complete the certification, Red Evolution has legally embedded their commitment to purpose beyond profit in their company articles.
Established in 2003, Red Evolution is a digital marketing agency that works primarily with B2B organisations who want to grow in an environmentally and socially responsible way.
Red Evolution’s values include fearlessly pursuing its clients best interests, which means doing what’s right for the client even if it means having hard conversations. They focus on projects that will be fulfilling for the team alongside financial and growth goals. They also work on a range of pro bono and reduced budget projects and for local small businesses, charities and volunteer services such as the local Mountain Rescue Team. These goals align with the B Corp definition of success, measured not just by financial profit, but by the positive impact an organisation creates for its employees, its community, and the planet.
David Robinson, founder and Managing Director of Red Evolution said, “I’d like to say a huge thank you to the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce for guiding us through the process of certification. It’s a big task and the support they provided through workshops and personalised advice helped us navigate it in a way we would not have been able to do alone. It’s fantastic to have recognition of the ethical way we have always done business and to be part of a group of companies that see the world the same way.”
Red Evolution is now part of a community of 10,000 businesses globally who have certified as B Corps. The B Corp community in the UK, representing a broad cross section of industries and sizes, comprises over 2,500 companies and includes well-known brands such as The Guardian, innocent, The Body Shop and Patagonia.
Chris Turner, Executive Director of B Lab UK, commented “We are delighted to welcome Red Evolution to the B Corp community. This is a movement of companies who are committed to changing how business operates and believe business really can be a force for good. We know that they are going to be a fantastic addition to the community and will continue driving the conversation forward”.
