Queen of Style Gets Regal Make-Over At Stobo Castle Ladies Day

Posted: 31st May 2018

Musselburgh Racecourse has revamped its Queen of Style event at Saturday’s (2 June) sell-out Stobo Castle Ladies Day.

The Queen of Style, the best dressed female racegoer on the day, will step off the catwalk with a £3000 cash prize and the use of a stylish Toyota GT86 sports car for one week, provided by racecourse vehicle sponsors Western Toyota.

But after listening to guest feedback from previous Queen of Style events, Musselburgh is making the glamour competition more accessible by changing the method of choosing finalists.

Instead of ‘spotters’ selecting participants from the busy Ladies Day crowd, there will be four highly visible stages located throughout the track where host and radio and stage star, Grant Stott, will encourage ladies to enter themselves in the event.

Two judges will select two finalists from each of the stages – located at the VIP Marquee, the Stage Marquee, Picnic Pavilion and Loretto Lawn – to go forward to the grand final and a chance of racing off with the cash and car prize.

The judging panel will consist of personal shopper and style expert Laura Russell of Satisfashion, former Miss Scotland and model Nicola Mimnagh, and former Pussycat Dolls band member and Dancing on Ice judge Ashley Roberts.

The two runners-up in Queen of Style will also have the opportunity to drive the sporty Toyota GT86 coupe for one week, courtesy of Western Toyota, with other prizes including a Stobo Castle spa day and lunch, and luxury hair treatment by Charlie Miller.

Musselburgh Racecourse marketing manager, Aisling Johnston, said: “We are always looking for new ways to provide a first-class experience for all racegoers and after listening to suggestions from customers we have refreshed the Queen of Style competition.

“By placing four highly visible stages in different locations around the racecourse we hope to give the opportunity to many more guests to take part in the fun and glamour of the Queen of Style event. The first prize is an impressive £3000 and we are indebted to sponsors Western Toyota for providing generous use of the equally impressive GT86 sports car.”

The King of Style, the competition for the hotly contested best dressed man at Ladies Day, will receive a £1000 voucher from High Street favourite Slaters Menswear with the runner up receiving a voucher for £500.

Gates open at 11am on Stobo Castle Ladies Day, the first race is at 1.40pm and the last race is at 5.30pm.
