Queen Margaret University scoops two National Student Housing Awards

Posted: 1st October 2021

On-campus student accommodation at Queen Margaret University (QMU), Edinburgh, walked away with the Best Booking Experience and Best Student Community prizes at the prestigious National Student Housing Awards, held online on Thursday 30 September.

The University was also shortlisted for the ‘Best Moving In Experience’ and the headline ‘Best University Halls’ award.

Unlike many other Awards, the National Student Housing Awards do not take written nominations or rely on ‘expert’ judges to make their selections. Instead, all awards are 100% based on direct feedback from tens of thousands of home and international students across the UK and Ireland.

This is the second year in a row that QMU has taken home the prize for ‘Best Booking Experience’, a category that encompasses the application processes and pre-arrival information, which, alongside the moving-in experience, all play an essential part in helping students feel secure and settled in their new environment.

QMU’s award for ‘Best Student Community’ is a testament to the exceptional work that Accommodation Services and the ResLife team have put into delivering an inclusive programme of support, events, and activities, all of which have helped create a strong sense of community and vibrancy on campus.

Paul Sibanda, Head of Accommodation at QMU, said: “We are honoured to have achieved these awards as a direct result of our students’ feedback. In particular, this recognition means all the more since it relates to the last academic year when we faced many significant challenges due to the pandemic. I am incredibly proud of the team, and I am sure the whole University community will join me in congratulating them.
