Put some Fizz in your fundraising for Cornerstone

Posted: 3rd October 2016

Scottish social care charity Cornerstone has launched a new initiative for the month of November which encourages participants to host their own fabulous fundraising event.

Under the Fizz Friday banner, anyone can host an event, making it an accessible fundraising challenge for all, whether you have the time and means to organise a large event or simply invite a small number of friends over for a girls’ night.

The Fizz File provided by Cornerstone is equipped with some simple steps and suggestions to help hosts through the process of organising a Fizz Friday event which could take any form, from a pamper night to a fashion show and also include recipes for four special cocktails created by the bartenders at Malmaison Aberdeen.

Lisa Duthie, Director of Corporate Relations and Fundraising at Cornerstone, said: “Fizz Friday is an excellent opportunity to enjoy time with friends whilst also raising funds for a worthy cause.

“With a bit of imagination, anything can become a Fizz Friday event, whether in your own home or at a public facility such as a community centre, village hall or school.”

For a fantastic Fizz Friday event, hosts could invite all of their closest friends for a small gathering such as a relaxed pamper party, breakfast bash or a glitzy evening of popcorn and prosecco.

However, for those who are able to dedicate more time and organisation, a more ambitious Fizz Friday event could be achievable in a location such a local community hall or local hotel. This could take the form of a fashion show, an afternoon of tea and cupcakes, or an absolutely fabulous fling dance event.

The Fizz Friday initiative is accessible to everyone and even a pink dress code or after-hours drinks in the office could be a way to raise money with colleagues.

All money raised will be used to support Cornerstone’s Quality of Life programme, which aims to transform the lives of people with disabilities and other support needs by providing access to essential specialised equipment, services and activities that might otherwise be unavailable.

If you would like to find out more about how you can host your own Fizz Friday event visit the event page on the Cornerstone website – www.cornerstone.org.uk – or contact Emilie Kristensen on 0141 378 0700 or email getinvolved@cornerstone.org.uk.

Cornerstone provides care and support services for adults, young people, and children across Scotland who live with learning disabilities, physical disabilities and other support needs.

Since 1980, Cornerstone has grown to support more than 2000 people each year, delivering services within 17 local authority areas across Scotland. More information on Cornerstone can be found by visiting www.cornerstone.org.uk
