Partnership with The East India Company
Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce is delighted to announce that The East India Company, London has come on board as a headline sponsor for a series of our Breakfast Connections in 2016. The Company joined Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce in October and since then we have hosted a number of events at their fabulous new boutique store on 80 George Street, Edinburgh which has a unique fine foods offering.
The arrival of The East India Company in Scotland rekindles historic ties as a significantly large proportion of The East India Company crew were Scotsmen. They came to work as writers, civil servants, traders, engineers and missionaries across parts of the world.
The East India Company offers an expertly crafted range of fine teas and coffees; artisan sweet and savoury biscuits; a luxurious chocolate range; flavourful jams, marmalades and mustards; gourmet salts and sugars; and indulgent ice cream. The extensive selection also includes exquisite silver tea accessories and a fine bone china and porcelain range that is unique in appearance and rich in history. The Company continues to explore the world to surprise and delight customers with inspirational tastes crafted from the finest ingredients the world has to offer – it remains a quintessentially British brand with influences from diverse cultures. The first Breakfast Connections was held on 31st of May when we were joined by Sandy Begbie, Chief People Officer at Standard Life who talked about ‘Creating Better Futures – Breaking Down the Barriers to Employment’. We look forward to working with The East India Company over the coming year and our next Breakfast Connections supported by The Company on 25th August when we will hear from Gordon Dewar, Chief Executive of Edinburgh Airport.
