Ocean Terminal raise over £130,000 in support of St Columba’s Hospice

Posted: 20th December 2019

Ocean Terminal has completed a mammoth year of fundraising in aid of St Columba’s Hospice with the partnership raising an incredible £137,000. The funds will play an important part in the day to day running of the Edinburgh hospice and ensure that it can continue to offer palliative care and support to its patients and their families.

Fundraising for the local charity began last year and has since supported St Columba’s Hospice through a variety of activities including; The Hospice’s inaugural Dragon Boat Race on the Forth, Wishing Wells, gift wrapping services and a dedicated retail shop within the centre.

The shopping centre will continue to support St Columba’s Hospice and Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity this December donating the proceeds from its Santa’s Grotto which was launched by TV presenter, Gail Porter and will run until Christmas Eve.

Ocean Terminal Contracts and Operations Manager, John Tucker said: “The hospice does an incredible job offering palliative care and support to so many families.  We are delighted with the results of the partnership and the huge amount raised to date. It’s been an absolute pleasure to have been able to support the team at St Columba’s Hospice and hopefully make a difference.”

Jon Heggie, Fundraising Director for St Columba’s Hospice, said: “We’re so grateful to Ocean Terminal for all of its support this year. We rely heavily on the generosity of our supporters to deliver our services and so to raise such a fantastic sum within a year is an incredible achievement.

“The partnership has provided us with a great opportunity to raise our profile and reach more families in the community that need us. Every penny raised will help us continue to provide vital palliative and end-of-life care across Edinburgh and the Lothians.”
