Nurses and midwives from the class of 2020 have been recognised for their efforts in the fight against Covid-19
Edinburgh Napier University is proud to announce that this year’s Alumni of the Year award has been bestowed upon the nurses and midwives from the graduating class of 2020.
Each year, the University identifies an individual or a group of alumni who have shown excellence and distinction in their personal and/or professional lives and who have made a positive contribution to the University, their community and profession.
Miia MacDougall, Alumni Engagement and Relations Manager, said: “The nurses and midwives from the 2020 graduating class may be the newest members of the ENU Alumni Network but they’re making a real difference in the fight against Covid-19.
“As this cohort reaches the end of their studies, they are taking up positions on the frontline in communities around the corner and around the world, using their skills and expertise to help the people who need it the most. Around 430 members of this graduating class even took up placements to support the NHS during the final few months of their studies.
“The entire Edinburgh Napier University community is incredibly proud of the professionalism and compassion the class of 2020 have shown.
“Congratulations on being the 2020 Alumni of the Year and welcome to the ENU Alumni Network!”

“Most of you will now have secured graduate employment in nursing and midwifery jobs in local, regional and national healthcare settings. As graduates of the University, you’re now in a position to deliver the best evidence-based care to the people who need it.
“As a nurse myself, I know what an incredible career you’re going to have in nursing and midwifery.
