Posted: 25th October 2018

Clyde 1 is celebrating another outstanding quarter after the latest RAJAR figures reveal the station remains the commercial market leader across Glasgow and the West.

Clyde 1 has a 17.4% share of the audience making it the all radio market leader.

Glasgow and the West’s hugely popular breakfast show Bowie@Breakfast, presented by George Bowie, has also extended its lead as the all-radio market leader (19.2% share), while the station’s much-loved football phone-in Superscoreboard delivered another massive all-time high with 32.3% audience share during its 6-8pm weeknight show.

Forth 1 also recorded impressive results with ‘Boogie in the Morning’ maintaining his position as the number one breakfast show for Edinburgh, the Lothians and Fife and the station having a 560,000 increase in hours to a total of 3,116,000. The popularity of the station was also underlined with it winning a silver award at the prestigious Audio & Radio Industry Awards (ARIAS) last week in the Local Station of the Year category.

The launch of Ewen Cameron in the morning on Clyde 2 and Forth 2 in early September comes at a time when both stations have also posted a strong set of results.

Clyde 2’s total hours reached the highest level in five years growing from 1,132,000 to 1,435,000 and Forth 2 also achieved impressive hours increasing from 497,000 to 777,000.

Graham Bryce, Managing Director of Bauer Radio in Scotland, said: “The outstanding results reported across Radio Clyde and Radio Forth exemplifies our strength across Scotland’s central belt. We are showing unprecedented resilience in a hugely competitive market and this is evidence of the way our stations understand and connect with their audience.

“This is driven by our UK-leading breakfast shows and the hard work put in by the talented teams on both Bowie@Breakfast and Boogie in the Morning to involve, inform and connect with their listeners.

“Coupled with the results for Clyde 2 and Forth 2, and the launch of the new Ewen Cameron in the Morning breakfast show, we are really pleased with how both stations are performing.”
