Bryan Burnett to host fundraising lunch in aid of care leavers

Posted: 2nd February 2018

BBC Radio Scotland presenter Bryan Burnett will host Barnardo’s Scotland’s inaugural Believe in Me lunch, which will take place at the prestigious Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa, Edinburgh on Friday 23rd March 2018.

The event by Scotland’s leading children’s charity is part of a fundraising drive for their innovative new project assisting care leavers* in transition from leaving care to independent living.

Bryan Burnett said: “Leaving care is a huge milestone in a young person’s life. Without suitable accommodation or a support network, it can be extremely challenging for care leavers to obtain employment, education and training.

“Barnardo’s Scotland has developed an innovative solution** to tackle this issue which I am very excited by. I am honoured to host the Believe in Me lunch knowing the funds raised will have a lasting and positive impact on so many.”

Events manager for the charity, Jordyn Armstrong added: “We are delighted that Bryan’s enthusiasm for the project led him to agree to host our event. This pilot is an exciting, innovative and long-term response that will support an incredibly vulnerable group of young people to develop the skills to succeed in reaching independence as adults.

“And with Bryan’s professional and charismatic manner, there really is no better way to spend a fun afternoon with friends or colleagues while contributing to the vital support of young people leaving care!”

Burnett currently presents Get It On, a drivetime music show for BBC Radio Scotland, and was previously the face of Scottish Passport, the holiday programme which was consistently the most popular regional programme on Scottish television.

The lunch will kick off with a welcome drink in the opulent Edinburgh Suite from 12 noon followed by a decadent two-course meal with a glass of wine. Entertainment and various fundraising activities throughout the day, including an auction and raffle for the chance to win some fabulous prizes, will add to an enjoyable day out amongst family, friends or colleagues for a lasting cause.
