Miller Homes welcomes Scottish Government’s First Homes Fund for first-time buyers
Scottish Homes Fund
Miller Homes is encouraging first-time buyers across the East of Scotland to explore the opportunities offered by the Scottish Government’s First Homes Fund, which could provide eligible purchasers with up to £10,000 towards the cost of buying their first home, on properties valued at £300,000 or less.
Available on all homes at the £300,000 or less price point across all Miller Homes developments, the shared equity scheme has been introduced to help tackle one of the biggest barriers facing aspiring homeowners – saving for a deposit – making it easier for more people to take their first step onto the property ladder.
The First Homes Fund is open to eligible first-time buyers purchasing a home in Scotland, and through the scheme, the Scottish Government contributes up to £10,000 towards the purchase price in return for an equity share in the property. Buyers remain the legal homeowner, with no monthly repayments or interest charged on the Government’s contribution. Miller Homes are also offering additional incentives to work alongside this scheme, such as a contribution towards deposit or LBTT, flooring or appliances. Offers can be tailored to suit customers needs.
Gary Heaney, Managing Director, Miller Homes Scotland East, commented, “For many aspiring homeowners, the biggest challenge isn’t securing a mortgage – it’s saving enough for a deposit. The First Homes Fund is a really positive step towards making home ownership more accessible and helping more people take that first step with confidence.
“Buying your first home is one of life’s biggest milestones and schemes like this can make a real difference. We’re delighted to be able to offer the First Homes Fund across Miller Homes developments, giving eligible buyers another route onto the property ladder while enjoying all the benefits of a brand-new, energy-efficient home.
“Our Development Sales Managers are on hand to guide buyers through the process, explain how the scheme works and help them understand whether they’re eligible, making what can often feel like a daunting journey that little bit easier.”
The introduction of the First Homes Fund has been welcomed by the housing sector, with industry leaders highlighting the importance of supporting first-time buyers to improve affordability, stimulate housing supply and keep the property market moving.
Some of the eligible homes available can be found across a selection of beautiful Miller Homes developments in the East of Scotland, including:
