Transport and Environment Convener Councillor Lesley Macinnes will share Edinburgh’s ambitious LEZ plans at the breakfast. She will be joined by representatives from Transport Scotland, the Federation of Small Businesses and ECO Stars fleet recognition scheme to impart advice on how businesses can get ready for LEZs.

Cllr Macinnes said: “Small and medium businesses make a significant contribution to our city’s success, so we want to bring them along with us as we make these changes, making sure that they are aware of our plans for LEZs as well as supporting them to prepare.

“By tackling pollution from vehicles, LEZs help to protect all the people who live in, work in and visit Edinburgh from the harms that air pollution poses, so it’s essential that we take action now.”

Plans to introduce LEZs are amongst a range of bold measures to transform the city, improving air quality and quality of life, benefiting the environment and driving down carbon emissions. It is recognised that changes proposed as part of the City Mobility Plan and City Plan 2030, both of which are currently under consultation, and Edinburgh City Centre Transformation, as well as LEZs, will impact businesses operating in Edinburgh, and the Council is working to make sure all those affected are informed and supported.

Edinburgh’s LEZ proposals have been developed in partnership with the Scottish Environment Protection Agency and Transport Scotland.

Following extensive consultation with the public on LEZ proposals last year, along with additional technical work, the Council is developing a finalised LEZ scheme for Edinburgh, which will be reported to Transport and Environment Committee later this year.
