Local Employers Given Opportunity to meet bright, young talent as QA celebrates Scottish Apprenticeship Week

Posted: 29th February 2016

QA Apprenticeships is celebrating Scottish Apprenticeship Week 2016 by holding open days at their Glasgow and Edinburgh training centres to raise awareness of the opportunities available for young people and employers.

Apprenticeships are a great way for young people to kick-start a career after school or college, offering hands on work experience and the opportunity to gain a range of recognised qualifications. The open days aim to give young people a better understanding of the options that are available after they leave school inspiring them to take their careers into their own hands.

It is also a chance for employers to see how apprenticeships can work for them. Many employers in Scotland face significant recruitment costs and a skills deficit – it is becoming increasingly difficult to recruit the right skills and the talent pool is becoming more challenged. Apprenticeships are a fantastic way for employers to upskill enthusiastic, local talent with the specific skills their business needs – helping to provide young people with the chance to develop a successful career.

QA Apprenticeships is committed to paving the way for as many young people as possible to start fantastic careers in the tech sector and supports them to develop the skills they need for success. QA is dedicated to supporting employers taking on apprentices – helping Scotland’s businesses achieve a cycle of sustainable talent through apprentices who deliver real business value, increase employee satisfaction, reduce staff turnover and lower recruitment costs.

Jonathan Warner, Director of QA Apprenticeships Scotland, says: “After creating over 8000 careers across the UK in our first five years, we’ve established ourselves in Scotland and are delivering apprenticeships for hundreds of Scottish businesses. We will continue to meet the needs of employers with our high-quality programmes, and ensure our apprenticeships are an effective development route to get Scotland’s young people into great careers.”

Open day details: Wednesday 2nd March at 10am on 32 South Gyle crescent, Edinburgh Scotland, EH12 9EB
