Law At Work continues expansion with new appointments

Employment law, HR and health & safety market disrupters, Law At Work (LAW) has taken further steps to expand with a wave of new appointments.

The five key appointments combined with LAW’s recent acquisition of Square Circle HR Ltd, making them a one-stop shop for employee-relations, takes the head count to 40. The firm has 380 retained clients which range in size from 5 to 10,000 staff. LAW’s UK-wide client base includes Interstate Hotels, City Refrigeration Holdings (UK) Ltd, Pineapple Studios and Dobbies Garden Centres.

SML - LAW - Edward SandersonAssisting the firm increase its presence across the UK is newly appointed business development co-ordinator Ed Sanderson. Ed joins from insurance law firm Plexus Law where he was responsible for managing the company’s administration team.

SML - LAW - David McCabeStrengthening the organisation’s ‘Safety at Work’ department are health and safety managers David McCabe and Lee Craig. With a background in offshore oil and gas, David is a qualified senior accident investigator who has experience co-ordinating large scale emergency operations. Prior to starting at LAW, he was employed as a health and safety executive at GE Aviation, one of the world’s leading providers of commercial and military aircrafts.

SML - LAW - Lee CraigLee Craig joins from South Lanarkshire Council where she was corporate health and safety manager, she was responsible for developing council-wide strategies and liaising with trade union representatives. During this time, she handled cases of personal injury, workplace violence and work-related stress, and has also advised clients across retail, care, hospitality and leisure sectors. A chartered member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health, she sits on the board of Women’s Aid’s West Lothian division.

SML - LAW - Sophie MacPhailThe newest member to LAW’s employment law team is University of Glasgow graduate Sophie McPhail. Since completing her traineeship in 2014, Sophie has gained experience working with a range of businesses, from large corporations to charities and housing associations.

SML - LAW - Zoe MackenzieZoe Mackenzie has been appointed client care and operations assistant. Based out of LAW’s Edinburgh office, she will be responsible for managing relationships with the company’s diverse portfolio of clients. Zoe brings with her more than six years of customer service experience working in high end retail.

The appointments follow a period of significant investment for the company; including a rebrand and new website that features a more developed client support area and more clearly defines their three strands of employee relations support – employment law, HR (including in-house support) and health and safety. The organisation currently has offices in Glasgow and Edinburgh, but are seeking to expand into London to provide further on-the-ground support to their larger LME and PLC clients.
