Posted: 13th March 2018

Leading intellectual property practice Marks & Clerk – which has 8 UK offices including in Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Aberdeen – has been named Scottish prosecution firm of the year at the annual Managing Intellectual Property Awards.

It is the second consecutive year the team have won prosecution firm of the year in Scotland.

The results follow a stellar year for the team at Marks & Clerk with the firm having recently been named the UK’s top filer of patent cooperation treaty (PCT) applications, and also the UK and EU’s top filer of trade marks.

Commenting upon the success in Scotland, Aidan Clarke, Chartered (UK) and European Trade Mark Attorney and Partner in Marks & Clerk’s Glasgow office, said: “Being named prosecution firm of the year reflects both the hard work of our team and the vibrancy of the Scottish economy. Scotland is leading the way in everything from food and drink which requires strong trade mark protection, to biotech and pharmaceuticals, where patents are key to protecting research and development.

“Working with businesses and entrepreneurs across Scotland is a real privilege and it’s great that this work has been recognised at the Managing Intellectual Property awards. We look forward to building upon this success, and continuing to serve Scotland’s innovators.”

Alongside offices across Scotland and the wider UK, Marks & Clerk also has a significant international presence with offices in the EU, Canada and Asia. Marks & Clerk received its latest accolade at a glitzy ceremony at London’s Savoy Hotel. As well as winning prosecution firm of the year in Scotland, the team were also nominated in the category of trade mark prosecution team of the year in England & Wales.
