Home-Start Edinburgh Celebrates 40 Years of Supporting Local Families

Posted: 8th September 2026

Home-Start Edinburgh is inviting former families, volunteers, staff, trustees, donors and supporters to join a special event marking 40 years of supporting babies, children and families across Edinburgh.

The celebration will take place on Thursday 10 September, from 6pm to 8pm at Lind & Lime Distillery, 24 Coburg Street, Leith, EH6 6HB.

Since 1985, Home-Start Edinburgh has worked alongside families facing some of the challenges of early parenthood, offering practical and emotional support through trained volunteers and family support services.

Eliza Waye, Chief Executive of Home-Start Edinburgh, said:

“Reaching our 40th anniversary is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the thousands of families who have been part of Home-Start Edinburgh’s story, along with the volunteers, supporters and partners who have made our work possible. As the saying goes, it takes a village to raise a child, and for 40 years Edinburgh has been that village. We would love to welcome everyone who has played a part in our journey to celebrate this important milestone with us.”

The event will bring together people who have supported Home-Start Edinburgh over the last four decades to reflect on the charity’s impact and look ahead to the future.

As part of its anniversary celebrations, the charity is also promoting its Friends of Home-Start Edinburgh corporate partnership programme, which invites businesses and organisations to support local families while demonstrating a commitment to strong families and thriving communities. Friends can help sustain vital services, engage employees in meaningful community activity and play a direct role in supporting families across Edinburgh.
