World-famous Scottish destination appoints its first PR agency to showcase its full tourism, hospitality and heritage offering

Gretna Green, the world-famous home of runaway weddings, has appointed award-winning PR & communications agency, Muckle Media, as its first-ever retained PR partner to raise awareness of its extensive tourism, hospitality and heritage offering.

Following a pitch process, Muckle Media was selected as a result of a PR plan combining proactive media relations, creative campaigns, profile building and AI-informed communications strategies to drive immediate visibility while supporting the destination’s long-term growth ambitions.

Muckle Media will lead strategic PR activity to strengthen domestic and international awareness of Gretna Green, positioning it as one of Scotland’s must-visit attractions. A fifth-generation family-owned business, Gretna Green welcomes over 500,000 visitors each year. With a history spanning over 270 years, it remains one of Scotland’s most recognised heritage destinations centred around the Famous Blacksmiths Shop and home to the oldest wedding anvil in existence.

Today, visitors can discover a destination where heritage, hospitality, food, drink, shopping and overnight stays come together through a growing programme of interactive experiences, from traditional handfasting ceremonies to immersive food and drink tastings.

The Muckle Media team brings experience across food and drink, hospitality and tourism, working with brands including Old Course Hotel St Andrews, Isle of Harris Distillery, Edinburgh Zoo and Camera Obscura.

Eileen Rainsberry, Senior Marketing Manager (Tourism), said: “We’re delighted to be partnering with Muckle Media at such an exciting point for Gretna Green. As we continue to grow and evolve our wider visitor offering, this collaboration will help us reach new audiences, showcase the breadth of our tourism experience and firmly position Gretna Green as a must-visit destination and the perfect first stop in Scotland.”

Nathalie Agnew, Managing Director at Muckle Media, added: “Gretna Green is internationally recognised as an iconic wedding destination. While this heritage is what it’s best known for, there is so much more to discover, from whisky tasting experiences to locally sourced food and hospitality. We’re pleased to help shine a light on that wider offering and attract new audiences to experience Gretna Green as a must-visit destination in its own right.”
