Ghoul The Extra Yard

Posted: 28th October 2020

The Yard is inviting fellow Chamber members to ‘Ghoul the Extra Yard’ to celebrate Halloween safely and raise funds for their local children’s disabled play centre in the process.

The Yard, which provides play services for disabled children, young people and their families in Edinburgh, Kirkcaldy and Dundee, is organising a virtual 1k, 5k or 10k fancy-dress run or walk over Halloween weekend (Saturday 31 October to Sunday 1 November 2020).

With children under 16 free of charge, entrants are encouraged to upload a selfie in their frightening frocks, masks or ghoulish make-up within 48 hours of completing their challenge, with prizes for the best spooky finish-line photo!

By taking part, families will help support The Yard’s ongoing efforts to provide online support for families with a disabled child at home prior to re-opening their centres fully in the weeks ahead.

Christy Thomson, Community and Volunteering Manager said, “Halloween celebrations will be a little bit different this year so we thought we’d challenge families, workplaces and teams to dress up and take to the streets, their local park or wherever they choose and raise some money in the process! You can decide your own distance and, if you’re feeling competitive, why not get your friends, family or work colleagues to join in the fun?”
