Full-on flavour and a force for good: Introducing the charity gourmet burger that tastes good and does good!

Luxford Burgers to mark International Women’s Day by donating proceeds to Strut Safe

International Women’s Day is just around the corner and one award-winning restaurant group is inviting foodies to celebrate in the most delicious way – by feasting on a gourmet burger that not only serves up full-on flavour, but also serves as a force for good.

The Kill Bill burger, available at Luxford Burgers, has been a hit with epicureans since its launch in 2020. Featuring a crispy garlic chicken thigh, candied bacon, katsu mayo and pickled ginger, it’s a burger with a lot of bite. And this month, it’s getting a makeover as Luxford Burgers renames it The Lady Bird to coincide with International Women’s Day.

What’s more, Luxford Burgers will be donating 50p from the sale of every Lady Bird burger in March to Strut Safe, a volunteer-operated support line that helps to keep women and marginalised people safe. Operators stay on the line until each caller arrives safely at their destination, no matter where they are going or where they have come from. In so doing, Strut Safe provides kindness and reassurance to anyone who needs it during their travels. Luxford Burgers will also be including flyers in every takeaway bag and using their social media channels to amplify awareness of Strut Safe’s important service.

Speaking ahead of the campaign launch, Luxford Burgers’ Executive Director, Alexander Galpin, said; “We’re excited to partner with Strut Safe and to educate our customers on the fantastic free service that the charity offers. It is so important all year round, but especially on International Women’s Day, that we all do our best to try to change the world for the better. In our case, one burger at a time. We hope the donations raised through burger sales, and the engagement and support we can bring, will be beneficial to Strut Safe to continue doing their vital work.”

In response, Katie Leeming, Head of Outreach at Strut Safe, commented, “We are so grateful that Luxford Burgers chose Strut Safe as a beneficiary on International Women’s Day and throughout March. Naming a burger in support is such a unique way to raise funds and drive engagement, and we hope it raises awareness of Strut Safe’s services and the challenges marginalised groups can face when travelling alone.”

The Lady Bird burger is available to order now at all Luxford Burgers outlets across Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester, Cambridge and Bristol. At its heart is not just succulent chicken and full-on flavours, but an important message about safety, brought to you by a brand that aims to go beyond great food.
