First West Lothian has announced an expansion and improvement in frequency to its direct and frequent service to Edinburgh Airport to offer customers a premium mode of transport directly to the airport.

The popular 600 service now provides more of West Lothian including Kirkton Campus, Whitburn and Blackburn with a direct, and frequent service to Edinburgh Airport every 30 minutes.

This new service that was launched along with the new network back in September 2018, offers customers premium service vehicles that come complete with extra comfort seating, Free WIFI, USB Charging points and luggage racks to offer customers more.

The service offers a direct link alternative to an expensive airport taxi journey and now serves Kirkton Campus, Whitburn and Blackburn as well as Livingston Centre, Deer Park, Uphall, Broxburn, Winchburgh, Kirkliston and Ratho Station on route to the airport every 30 minutes.

Like all other First Bus services across the country, offers customers a number of ways to pay using Contactless, purchasing on bus from the driver with cash or via the quickest method, which is to pay for their tickets in advance and save further with the cheapest fares available via the First Bus mTickets app.

For instance, an adult return is just £11, while a family of four (2 Adults and 2 Children) can travel for just £31 with our open return ticket. Kids under 5 can travel on this service for free. The 600 is a direct and convenient service whether you are commuting, planning a family holiday or taking in a romantic city break.

Graeme Macfarlan, Commercial Director for First West Lothian, said: “We are delighted to announce the expansion of this highly popular service, which now provides more of the people of West Lothian with a direct link service to Edinburgh Airport. An improvement to frequency as well as an extended area coverage means there is now a viable alternative to the expensive taxi fare and I would urge people to sit back, relax and let us take them to the airport without the hassle.”

Gordon Dewar, Chief Executive of Edinburgh Airport said: “The improved frequency of this route shows just how successful it has been and makes it even easier for people in and around West Lothian to get to Edinburgh Airport and start that important trip, be it a business meeting in London or a family holiday in Tenerife.

“An extensive public transport programme is something we are invested in and we are always looking to add new routes, increased frequency and greater choice to ensure customers can get here with ease. It’s great to see First West Lothian sharing that vision and working with us to expand the 600 service.”
