Finding a new home in the new normal

Posted: 27th May 2020

Anderson Strathern in conversation with Edwina de Klee of Garrington Property Finders

As the importance of the home has been elevated in our ‘new normal’, Anderson Strathern has launched its second Clear Talking podcast focusing on residential property.  The podcast series is aimed at helping individuals and business owners navigate current difficult times.

Finding a new home in the new normal is now live on Anderson Strathern’s website.

Edinburgh-based property finder, Edwina De Klee, of Garrington sources and acquires some of the finest residential homes in Scotland for her clients. In her conversation with the firm’s Partner, Sara Jalicy, and Director, Jemma Richardson, Edwina discusses the importance of her business relationships when advising property buyers, the impact of the Covid-19 crisis on the property market and the purchase process.

Edwina de Klee from Garrington Property Finders comments: “Lockdown has been a challenge for everyone in their own individual ways and we were delighted to be asked to take part in Anderson Strathern’s podcast series to talk about how things are changing for house buyers.

“We’re now finding that buyers are falling into different categories, the less risk averse will be continuing to look and make quick transactions when we come out of lockdown, others will be motivated by the need for a change in lifestyle regardless of the current climate and there will be those with a longer term view who will wait to see what happens over the next 6 months.”

Sara Jalicy, Partner, at Anderson Strathern said: “It was great to discuss with Edwina the challenges the residential property market is currently facing and what house buyers may be looking for through lockdown and beyond. Keeping up our remote business relationships with our property agents is absolutely critical to be able to help our clients through this crisis. We are continuing to provide strong legal advice, working with our partners to problem solve for clients, finding new ways of working to enable them to continue searching and planning for the future.

Edwina emphasises in the podcast how the importance of the home has been elevated in the current circumstances and explains how she expects the property market might react. In particular, the areas that might perform positively post-lockdown. They also consider how sellers and buyers might adapt to the ‘new normal’ and the changing role of property professionals.

Listen to the podcast here and find the podcast series on Anderson Strathern’s Business Hub, which has been launched to help the Scottish business community and individuals with useful information through the Covid-19 Pandemic.
