  • Four new Partners among a total of 15 staff making step up
  • Managing Partner highlights commitment to career progression amid growth

Four new Partners are among 10 senior promotions taking effect today (Tuesday) at Lindsays, the leading independent Scottish legal firm for people and businesses.

Six other lawyers have also taken the step up to Director among a total of 15 promotions announced across the partnership’s offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee and Perth.

The promotions take the total number of Partners in the firm to 53, their highest-ever level.

New Partners include one who has climbed the ranks after joining the firm as a trainee and two who have earned their second promotion in 12 months.

Lindsays Managing Partner Alasdair Cummings said: “Our commitment to attracting fine legal talent and offering opportunities for people to progress their careers with Lindsays is unwavering. These well-deserved promotions stand testament to that.

“While our firm continues to grow and evolve, our focus on providing quality, people-first advice remains steadfast.

“That requires good people who embrace the Lindsays way of supporting clients with their personal, family and business affairs. All of our colleagues beginning new roles today fly the flag for that way of working. Each will play their part in our future success.”

Alastair Smith’s promotion to Partner in the Corporate and Commercial team in Edinburgh highlights the firm’s commitment to ongoing professional development. He joined as a trainee 20 years ago and has been a Director since 2021.

In the Personal Injury team, Glasgow-based Rachel Holt – who was made a Senior Associate just 12 months ago – takes the step up to Partner. She joined Lindsays as a Solicitor in 2018.

Edinburgh lawyer Gregor MacEwan becomes a Partner in the Dispute Resolution and Litigation department. He had been a Senior Associate since 2022, having joined the firm as a Solicitor in 2013.

In Perth, Stephen O’Hare has been promoted to Partner in the Private Client team. He joined Lindsays as an Associate through its merger with Miller Hendry in May 2023 and was made a Senior Associate last year.

The six lawyers promoted to Director are:

  • Emma Allan, Commercial Property, Perth.
  • Vanessa Beattie, Commercial Property, Edinburgh.
  • Brian Pollock, Dispute Resolution and Litigation, Glasgow.
  • Lewis Crofts, Rural – Land and Business, Edinburgh.
  • Eilidh Robertson, Rural – Land and Business, Edinburgh.

Lindsays Chair Nina Taylor said: “As a firm, we are proud to be able to recognise and reward talent and hard work. I am delighted to see so many colleagues taking their next steps as part of the Lindsays family.”
