Fairtrade Fortnight will run from 25 February to 10 March.  Edinburgh is a Fair Trade City, which is a status awarded biennially by the Fairtrade Foundation (and a critical component of Scotland itself maintaining Fair Trade Nation status) and many events will be taking place across Edinburgh during that time to promote fair trade.

Perhaps your organisation already supports fair trade through use of fair trade coffee, tea, sugar, biscuits, or even wine, but there are many other products in a wide range of categories that could be added.  For example, fair trade phones; workplace clothing; flowers; handwashes; crockery and cutlery; toilet paper.  Outside of the workplace there are sports balls; gold; jewellery; beauty products; confectionery; chocolate; fruit; spreads; cereals; nuts; snacks.

Many schools, faith groups, educational establishments and villages and towns pursue fair trade status, and organisations can also do their part.

Some fair trade resources are listed below.  The Fairtrade Foundation can provide, free of charge, Fairtrade Fortnight event packs and many different forms of promotional material.  The Scottish Fair Trade Forum coordinates at a national level and can, for example, provide speakers and/or informational stalls if you wanted to hold an event.  At a local level, the Edinburgh Fair Trade City Steering Committee, although only a small group of volunteers, is active across the city and beyond and can give you practical advice on fair trade matters and include you in its network and keep you informed of events, promotions, and other fair trade topics.
