Extra seats for Ed Sheeran at Hampden Park

Posted: 31st May 2018

ScotRail is adding extra carriages to help music lovers travel to see Ed Sheeran at Hampden Park this weekend.

Hampden Park plays host to Ed Sheeran’s UK stadium tour on Friday 1, Saturday 2, and Sunday 3 June.

ScotRail will be adding carriages to trains on routes to Glasgow, as well as on trains between Glasgow Central and Mount Florida – the closest station to Hampden Park – on each day.

Queuing systems will be in place at Glasgow Central before the concert, and at Mount Florida station afterwards. Fans are also being advised to head back to Mount Florida as quickly as possible after the event finishes and join the queues on Bolton Drive, as the last services of the evening will depart soon after and are expected to be exceptionally busy.

To help ensure customers arrive at the gig on time, they should allow extra time for travel and purchase tickets in advance.

As with most special events, ScotRail will have extra staff on the ground to assist customers.

ScotRail Alliance Head of Customer Experience Graham Heald said: “We’re looking forward to helping music fans travel by train to see Ed Sheeran in concert this weekend.

“To help the event run smoothly, we’re adding extra carriages to trains to and from the city centre, as well as to Hampden.

“Regular commuters who travel home from Glasgow on the line via Mount Florida should be aware that services will be much busier than normal with fans heading to the gig – particularly on Friday evening.”
