A unique collection of works formed from recipients of the prestigious RGU Fine Art, Design and Architecture Purchase Awards have gone on display in a new exhibition, marking the Year of Innovation, Architecture and Design. Kaleidoscope ll at Duff House showcases the very best in creative design and innovation from graduates of RGU’s Gray’s School of Art and the Scott Sutherland School of Architecture and Built Environment.

The display is formed from around 100 original creations and includes fashion, textiles, architectural drawings, a sculpture, digital prints, graphic illustrations and product designs. Part of 2016’s Look Again Visual Art and Design Festival, the exhibition will provide visitors with an opportunity to view and discover more about some of the finest examples of graduate produced artworks in the north east of the country, as well as the artists themselves and their inspiration.

Commenting on the exhibition, Duff House Manager, Graeme Curran, said: “Kaleidoscope ll showcases a truly unique body of work; the exhibition demonstrates and celebrates the talent, creativity and achievements of previous and more recent RGU Purchase Prize recipients. Visitors to the House will have the chance to view a variety of quality work including contemporary jewellery, graphic illustrations, detailed architectural drawings, fashion garments and much more in a display, which highlights the creativity and talent held within this region. It’s very fitting that we welcome this exhibition in the Year of Innovation, Architecture and Design.”

The exhibition is in partnership with RGU Art and Heritage Collections and forms part of this year’s Look Again Festival – which showcases the best in visual art and design throughout the north east of Scotland.

Jane Kidd, Curator of RGU’s Arts and Heritage Collection, said: “We are delighted to be putting on Kaleidoscope ll which showcases the range of work that has been produced over the years by some of the talented recipients of RGU’s Fine Art, Design and Architecture Purchase Prizes. The prizes are given each year to graduates of Gray’s School of Art and the Scott Sutherland School of Architecture and Built Environment. Duff House provides a wonderfully striking backdrop for the exhibition and it’s wonderful to see the work in a completely new environment.”

Director of the Look Again Visual Art & Design Festival, Sally Reaper, added: “We are very proud that the innovative Kaleidoscope ll exhibition is part of this year’s Look Again Festival. This collection highlights the incredible young talent we have right here in the north east and promises to be a thought-provoking hit with everyone who visits Duff House. It represents the diverse programme of events and exhibitions lined up for the 2016 Look Again Festival, which showcase the very best artists and designers locally, nationally and internationally.”

Kaleidoscope ll will run until Sunday 15th May. This exhibition is included in the cost of admission to the House and is free for members.
