Our Developing Edinburgh series of events offer an insight into the changing face of our city. From transport updates, to construction and development plans, to City Deals, all from prominent business leaders, these events will ensure you are clued up on the great work going into Scotland’s capital.

Join us for an update from John Watson, Chief Executive of Crosswinds Developments Ltd and Operating Principal with Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) – the owners of Edinburgh Airport this August.

At this event, John will set out the Crosswinds Developments Ltd vision, talk about the opportunities open to businesses and answer your questions about west Edinburgh’s most exciting land development project.

Crosswinds Project

The Crosswinds Developments project is one of the most ambitious regeneration opportunities in Edinburgh.

Creating a new community adjacent to Edinburgh Airport, Scotland’s busiest airport with nearly 14 million passengers every year, the 100-acre site will play a critical role in reinvigorating West Edinburgh.

Established in 2017, the project’s consultative approach will open up the brownfield and transform it into one of Scotland’s best connected mixed-use development areas, offering office space, light industrial and hotels. At the heart of it will be plans to create inclusive residential options to support the local available jobs as well as community facilities while maintaining the areas of natural heritage, hidden until recently behind the airport security fence.

Working closely with Edinburgh Airport and Edinburgh Council, Crosswind aims to work with all of their neighbours to create a sustainable airport city development which future generations will be proud of.

Prior to joining GIP, John was the Managing Director of Lloyds Banking Group’s $50bn SME Lending business during the banking liquidity crisis and has subsequently held a number of executive and non-executive positions globally. John serves on the board of the Institute of Directors, Entrepreneurial Scotland Foundation, Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce and ICAS Governing Council.

This event will be hosted at the Royal Scots Club, a beautiful Georgian architectural building, only a stone’s throw from George Street. As well as an update from John, attendees will enjoy breakfast, refreshments, and an opportunity to network with other business leaders within Edinburgh.
