How to be a Trustee

How to be a Trustee

@ Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce 40 George Street EDINBURGH Midlothian EH2 2LE

29th April, 2020 09:30-11:00 Event 10.00
There are over 4500 charities, community groups and social enterprises in Edinburgh, with an income (in 2017) in excess of £3 billion. Ranging from the small, locally focussed and entirely volunteer run and led, to SMEs and larger multi million pound organisations. All of them have one thing in common - they are governed by unpaid volunteers known at Trustees. Trustees give their time and skills to ensure that these organisations are well run, do what they are supposed to do and are sustainable.

39% of third sector organisations currently have vacancies for Trustees.

Becoming a Trustee is one of the most flexible volunteering opportunities you can undertake. It’s not only an opportunity to offer your skills and expetrise to a worthwhile cause, but also helps to develop and build experience, skills and knowledge.

In this session we will help you understand what is involved in becoming a Trustee, how to select the right organisation for you and what you can expect. It’s an opportunity to increase your knowledge on this sector and how your skills can contribute to it.

This session will be led by Edinburgh Third Sector Interface, a partnership of Volunteer Edinburgh, Edinburgh Voluntary Organisations Council and Edinburgh Social Enterprise.
