Ryden has recently signed up eight new tenants at Castlebrae Business Centre, an Art-Deco Category B listed former school in Craigmillar that has been converted to provide over 35,000 sq ft of office / studio accommodation.

Ryden secured the deals on behalf of head tenant Cre8te Opportunities Limited, a social enterprise set up to help local residents and businesses.  The building is owned by the City of Edinburgh Council and has recently undergone an extensive £2 million refurbishment project to provide modern, bright and attractive office accommodation.

The new occupiers are Graham Facilities Management, 20th Century Antiques, BB Bespoke, Garland Florists, Working on Wheels, Homeless Outreach Project, Shot Scope Technologies and Curious Gem.  They have each signed a month-to-month rolling contract at £10 per sq ft.  Unit sizes ranged from 300 to 1,000 sq ft.

Cameron Whyte, surveyor at Ryden who secured the deals, noted: “Flexible lease terms, competitive rentals, volume of car parking and the overall quality of the refurbishment were all major attractions for the new occupiers.  Following completion of the extensive refurbishment project, we look forward to introducing more tenants to Castlebrae Business Centre which is now approximately 75% let.”

Sharron Stanton, Chief Executive of Cre8te Opportunities noted: “The flexibility of our lease terms enables small to large businesses to access affordable accommodation, without being tied into lengthy lease terms.  The refurbishment of the Castlebrae Business Centre is a major boost for the local area of Craigmillar and the variety of tenants within the building helps create the amazing atmosphere that was lacking before the refurbishment.  Cre8te would like to thank Ryden for their help and assistance in enabling this iconic building to thrive once again.”
