Edinburgh Trams Launches Recruitment Drive with Vacancies for up to 20 Ticket Inspectors
Edinburgh Trams is launching a major recruitment campaign with a drive to hire twenty Ticketing Service Assistants.
The role – otherwise known as Ticket Inspector – is primarily responsible for delivering ‘Excellence for Edinburgh’ while protecting the organisation’s revenue and ensuring our customers receive the very best travelling experience.
As the city’s tram operator recovers from the pandemic and ahead of a major expansion of the network, the campaign will continue throughout the coming months when more tram drivers and engineers will also be required.
The recruitment process for Ticketing Service Assistants consists of completing an online application form followed by an Assessment Day at Gogar Tram Depot. Those who pass a Ticketing Checking Test, and a group exercise, are then invited to a competency-based interview.
Successful candidates receive in-depth training to learn how to see every interaction as an opportunity to engage customers in new, exciting ways.

Ticketing Service Assistant Robbie Newton, who joined Edinburgh Trams in 2018, said he enjoys meeting people from all over the world and helping them.
Being autistic, working with the public was a challenge to begin with; however, in my journey with the company, I have gained some good social skills; the ability to help passengers and the ability to empathise.
Ticketing Service Assistants have the opportunity to progress to Tram Drivers, which can then lead to Control Room and Duty Manager positions. The organisation also has opportunities for internal moves into office support and engineering roles.
Richard Holmik, who is originally from Hungary, was promoted from Ticketing Service Assistant to Team Leader after his first six months at Edinburgh Trams. “The sky is the limit in this organisation.”
