Edinburgh Fringe hit Bugle Boys bring cracking Christmas show to Assembly Roxy

Posted: 9th November 2018

Having wowed the crowds at the 2018 Edinburgh Fringe, they are coming to Assembly Roxy in December with brand new show, BUGLE BOYS: CHRISTMAS CRACKERS.

Frocked up to the nines, Patty, Maxene and Laverne are set to dance their shapely legs off while singing live at the Roxy, 11th-30th December. This comedy/cabaret holiday hoot is packed full of humour, sass and crowd-pleasers, including festive hits by The Andrews Sisters, Bing Crosby, Wham, Kylie, Mariah and more.

The Bugle Boys return to Edinburgh with a raunchy alternative to the traditional work Christmas social. The show combines live music and some good old fashioned fun. It’s directed by Barry Church-Woods and sees Ewan James Armstrong, Martin MacLennan and Tom Harlow reprise their roles as Andrews Sisters knock-offs.

Barry Church-Woods says: “We had such a fantastic time introducing the Bugle Boys to Edinburgh this August, we decided to move straight onto a Christmas extravaganza. We reckon there’s a gap in the market for a festive afternoon or night out that isn’t panto or the Nutcracker.

Assembly Roxy Programmer, Luke Holbrook says: “Following the success of The Bugle Boys: A Salute to The Andrews Sisters as part Assembly’s 2018 Fringe programme, we are thrilled to be welcoming the Bugle Boys to the Roxy this Christmas. We wanted to offer an alternative Christmas show to audiences in Edinburgh, and none will bring more joy and hilarity than this one.”

Written by John Livings, Christmas Crackers is produced by Bugle Boys Pty and Civil Disobedience (Scottish Culture Awards 2018 ‘One to Watch’ finalist), with the December run consisting of both matinees and evening performances.

Of particular note is that on Tuesday 11th December 8:00pm and Wednesday 12th December 2pm & 8pm we are encouraging local residents (EH7 or EH 8) and anyone who makes a donation to the Food Bank to book tickets for only 5 pounds. *full details T’s & C’s on the Assembly Website
