Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce Membership Directory Usage Policy

Introduction

This Acceptable Use Policy outlines the terms of conduct which all users of the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce Membership Directory must adhere to when using the platform.

The Membership Directory is an optional benefit enjoyed by Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce Members. It is a secure, member only portal which enables users to access information on other members including the business name, address, contact telephone and main contact name and email address.

In line with our aim of supporting and connecting our members, the Directory provides a platform in which members can contact fellow members, make introductions and grow their network.

The terms of conduct have been produced to ensure that the Directory can be efficiently used, whilst protecting the rights of our members in line with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Failure to adhere to the Acceptable Use Policy may result in members being removed from the Membership Directory.

Acceptable Use

  • Users may contact other users of the platform individually using the contact details provided. All contacts within the Directory have given permission to appear here at the point of joining the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce.
  • Users of the Membership Directory are to only use the platform to represent the organisation of whom they are employed by, and whom are full members of the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce. Using the platform for personal reasons or to represent businesses which are not members of the Edinburgh Chamber is not permitted.
  • The Membership Directory is to be used for networking and introduction purposes only.
  • The data on the Directory may be filtered according to business sector, size and postcode.

Unacceptable use

Unacceptable use includes, but is not limited to, the following activities:

  • Transmitting or sharing data out-with the Directory platform. This includes sharing data with other individuals or organisations without prior consent.
  • Any use of the platform which is likely to cause annoyance or inconvenience, e.g. sending unsolicited marketing or chain emails
  • Contacting members with inappropriate of defamatory material
  • Any other use of the Member Directory which is unlawful or breeches GDPR

The Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce is not responsible for communications made by users through the Membership Directory. Users must comply with these guidelines at all times, and are responsible for managing and ensuring their conduct meets these standards.
