DWP Jobs Guarantee Scheme

Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce is supporting The King’s Trust as a partner in delivering the UK Government’s DWP Jobs Guarantee Scheme in Central and East Scotland, alongside valued partners Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, Barnardo’s and Action for Children.

The programme connects young people with paid and meaningful job opportunities while supporting employers to fill roles, develop talent, and build a more inclusive workforce. Through the scheme, businesses can access funding and practical support to create real pathways into work for young people facing barriers to employment.

This UK Government programme enables employers to offer fully funded, six-month roles to young people, while contributing to regional economic inclusion and workforce development.

We are currently seeking expressions of interest from employers.

About the programme

The Jobs Guarantee supports young people aged 18–21 who have been seeking employment over an extended period.

Delivered locally by The King’s Trust and partners, the programme includes:

  • Pre-employment training for candidates
  • Job matching aligned to employer needs
  • Ongoing in-work support
  • Post-placement guidance

Placements are expected to run between May 2026 and April 2027.

Employer offer

Employers participating in the programme will receive:

  • 100% reimbursement of wage costs (up to 25 hours per week at National Minimum Wage)
  • Coverage of employer National Insurance and minimum pension contributions
  • Up to £250 onboarding support per placement
  • Access to candidate preparation and ongoing support through delivery partners

Employer requirements

We are working with employers who can provide:

  • Entry-level roles lasting six months
  • Opportunities for skills development and meaningful work
  • A supportive working environment
  • A named workplace contact to support the placement

Roles should be additional and must not displace existing employees.
