DWF partners with Stellar Omada on unique social mobility initiative

Posted: 13th August 2025

DWF, the global provider of integrated legal and business services, has partnered with digital consultancy Stellar Omada to deliver a unique social mobility initiative aimed at inspiring young people to explore career opportunities in both the legal and technology sectors.

Each year, as part of DWF’s long-standing 5 STAR Futures programme, students from Leith Academy, St. Benedict’s High School and Govan High School are welcomed into DWF’s Scottish offices to take part in skills-based workshops aimed at building confidence, boosting employability, and raising aspirations.

This year’s programme was enhanced by a collaboration with Stellar Elevate, the education arm of Stellar Omada. Stellar Elevate delivered an immersive Cyber Security Escape Room workshop, providing students with a dynamic introduction to the digital and tech industries. The session encouraged teamwork, problem-solving and strategic thinking – key transferable skills for any career path.

Following the workshops, selected students were invited to complete a week-long work experience placement at DWF’s Edinburgh office where they gained first-hand insight into areas such as Real Estate, Corporate and Insurance. Activities included reviewing legal documents, participating in mock arbitrations, and visiting the Edinburgh Sheriff Court to observe both civil and criminal proceedings. The experience culminated in a mock proof exercise, where the students acted as legal counsel in a fictional case.

Lyssa McLagan, Elevate Lead at Stellar Omada, said: “At Stellar Elevate, our goal is to break down barriers and show that a career in technology is an exciting and achievable path for everyone, regardless of their background. Partnering with forward-thinking organisations like DWF allows us to create hands-on learning experiences that demystify the tech sector and help students build the confidence and skills they need to succeed.”

Caroline Colliston, Executive partner of DWF in Scotland, said: “We’re passionate about breaking down barriers to the world of work and helping young people realise their potential. Through our 5 STAR Futures programme, we aim to equip students with the confidence, skills and insight they need to take their next steps, whatever path they choose. We genuinely enjoy welcoming the students into our offices each year, sharing our experiences, and seeing their enthusiasm grow as they discover what’s possible for their future.”
