DM Hall raises £17,400 in 2017 for its charity partners, Macmillan Cancer Support and Alzheimer Scotland

Posted: 2nd February 2018

DM Hall, one of Scotland’s leading independent firms of chartered surveyors, raised £17,400 in 2017 for its two chosen charity partners: Macmillan Cancer Support and Alzheimer Scotland, and could be on course to raise even more this year.

DM Hall - charitiesThe firm, which entered into a two year agreement with the charities at the start of 2017 believes it can do even better this year, partly as a result of a fund-raising charity ball to be held this summer.

Up until 2016 a three year relationship with Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS) saw DM Hall staff raise over £45,000 to provide hospice care for children with life limiting conditions.

Alzheimer Scotland and Macmillan Cancer Support were chosen as the firm’s partner charities by staff members from a shortlist drawn up by DM Hall.

Macmillan Cancer Support provides vital support to people living with cancer in Scotland; right from the moment of diagnosis, through treatment and beyond, Macmillan is a constant source of support, giving the energy and inspiration to help people take back control, and feel more like themselves again.

Alzheimer Scotland, the leading dementia organisation in Scotland, delivers a range of support that recognises the needs and wishes of the individual; whether that is a person with a diagnosis, someone who is concerned about their memory, a carer, partner, family member or close friend.

Eric Curran, DM Hall’s Managing Partner said: “By undertaking a series of fund-raising events throughout 2017, DM Hall colleagues have supported each other to raise funds for these important charities. We are grateful also for the support afforded to their efforts by both our clients and suppliers.

“For 2018 we will be undertaking a series of events, challenges and initiatives which we hope will result, again, in lots of fun as well as a meaningful financial contribution to these two outstanding charities.

“In particular, we will be holding a charity ball at the beautiful Prestonfield House, just outside Edinburgh, on Friday 22 June, which promises to be a great evening of glitz, humour and networking, all in the cause of raising yet more funds for our two partner charities.”

Linda Thompson, Corporate Fundraiser from Alzheimer Scotland, said: “DM Hall’s fundraising efforts in 2017 have been outstanding and we are very grateful for the contribution it has made to our vital work. All monies raised will go a long way to boost our vital services across Scotland, including our local support, services and advice and will help us get closer to achieving our aim – making sure that nobody faces dementia alone.”

Laura Foreman, Fundraising Manager from Macmillan Cancer Support, said: “Cancer can affect anyone at any time and with very little government funding, we know we are not able to reach everyone who needs us. DM Hall’s support throughout 2017 was a vital component in helping us carry out our work and we are very pleased that we will continue to receive its support throughout 2018.”
