DM Hall brings to market an excellent opportunity for chef/operator to acquire Tobermory’s Galleon Grill restaurant

Posted: 16th December 2019

DM Hall, one of Scotland’s largest independent firms of chartered surveyors, has brought to market an excellent opportunity for a chef/operator to acquire the highly successful Galleon Grill and Restaurant in Tobermory, the main town on the beautiful Inner Hebridean island of Mull.

Situated in Post Office Brae in the centre of Tobermory, the stylish and mature licensed restaurant, which owns a Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence and currently operates under management, has significant growth potential. A self-contained one bedroomed terraced apartment can be made available also to the new owners of The Galleon Grill, by separate negotiations.

Offering a full range of locally sourced food products including daily fresh seafood, The Galleon Grill, which can accommodate 34 covers, is a firm favourite both with locals and tourists but trades only from March through until the end of October. A small, dedicated team consisting of Head Chef, second chef and two front of house staff excel in delivering a high standard of service to customers.

Mull’s stunning coastlines, outstanding natural beauty and rich Scottish heritage attracts visitors who participate in wildlife spotting and other outdoor pursuits as well as visiting the local whisky and gin distilleries.

The island has a local population of around 3000 and accommodates a huger influx or visitors, especially in the summer months. With the steady rise in winter visitors to Mull in general and Tobermory in particular, however, the opportunities for year-round trading are apparent.

Kerry Boyle of DM Hall’s Edinburgh-based commercial sales department said: “The Galleon Grill provides prospective purchasers with a true turnkey opportunity, as the business has already built up a great reputation with locals and tourists alike. In addition, there is a recognised demand for longer opening hours.

“We envisage that The Galleon Grill would ideally suit a hand on owner chef / operator or partnership team who could continue to develop trade whilst introducing their own flair and energy to increase profitability.

“Offers over £185,000 are invited for our client’s interest in the heritable interest, the Scottish equivalent of freehold, in the property, including fixtures, fittings and goodwill. For further information, please do not hesitate to contact me, Kerry Boyle, Kerry.Boyle@dmhall.co.uk on 0131 624 6139”.
