Diabetes Scotland appeals for fundraisers to register for the Kiltwalk
Put a spring in your step next month and combine a walk to the bonny banks of Loch Lomond with fundraising for Diabetes UK in the Kiltwalk 2018. Or sign up for one of the walking challenges in Aberdeen, Dundee or Edinburgh later this year.
Diabetes Scotland is appealing to friends of the charity to consider registering for one of this year’s four Kiltwalk events across Scotland and help our work supporting people and their families living with the condition; campaigning for improved care; and funding for vital research towards a world where diabetes can do no harm.
Angela Mitchell, National Director of Diabetes Scotland said: “The annual Kiltwalk has grown to become one of the Scotland’s most high profile charity events attracting ever higher numbers of entrants. But what sets the Kiltwalk apart from other fundraising events is that the Hunter Foundation promise to top up the totals raised by each entrant by an incredible 40%. This makes it a marvellous opportunity to maximise fundraising efforts and we would urge as many friends and supporters to join Diabetes UK’s walkers and register for the Kiltwalk.”
There are 4 Kiltwalk events in 2018:
- Glasgow – 29 April
- Aberdeen – 3 June
- Dundee – 19 August
- Edinburgh – 16 September
Each event offers three distance options to suit all abilities: 26 miles long, The Mighty Stride is for fit and experienced walkers which may require some training in advance; the 13 mile Big Stroll is for intermediates; and the more accessible 6 mile trek for beginners is aptly named The Wee Wander.
Individuals raising money for Diabetes UK will receive a free branded t-shirt, a ‘crazy hair’ headband and support in the run up to the event.
Full details of the four events and how to register are available at the Kiltwalk.
