‘Cracking’ expansion with help from Barclays

Posted: 10th April 2018

Established in 1986, the business has evolved from a small one-man private clinic to become one of the leading multi-disciplinary private healthcare clinics in the north east of Scotland that treats all types of musculoskeletal pain and injuries. Bolstered by a team of 18 specialist experts, the business offers a range of natural services from body and mind healing to sports therapy and acupuncture.

In 2013, the business also began treating large and small animals for performance enhancement, injuries and general wellbeing. They started a geriatric care service for dogs and cats which provides non-pharmaceutical pain relief for joints and muscle aches in an ageing population of pets.

With a reputation as the ‘go-to’ clinic in the North East, Riverside Chiropractic Group has developed a strong base of loyal customers, and with a six-week waiting list, the company’s Clinical Director, Emma-Louise Emerson, sought to expand the business and approached her local Barclays Relationship Manager Rebecca Ainsley to support her growth ambitions.

Emma-Louise Emerson, Clinical Director at Riverside Chiropractic Group, commented: “Integrity and honesty are the cornerstone of our company – we want to be the best non-surgical option for people with musculoskeletal aches and pains across Scotland. Not only do we treat the pain, but we treat the person – that’s why we consistently deliver a 97% success rate.

“As we treat a variety of clients, from children and pregnant women to sports injuries and animals, expanding the capacity of the business became a priority as our waiting lists were reaching an all-time high. When the opportunity arose to purchase the neighbouring premises, it was the perfect solution. Barclays made the process so simple – they didn’t put obstacles in our way and were easy to deal with.

“We can now offer even more specialised facilities, including a dedicated sports rehab suite where we can work with a range of new clients including riders, triathletes and even help golfers enhance their swing. The expansion allows us to have two dedicated personal trainers on-site, boosting our wellbeing services.”

Stuart Brown, Head of SME Scotland, Barclays, said: “At Barclays we’re passionate about helping Scotland’s businesses and their founders at every stage of their journey, and Riverside Chiropractic Group is a great example of a growth business. Well known in the north east for its range of its field.

“We were able to offer Emma-Louise a local relationship manager, Rebecca Ainsley, who understood her growth ambitions and could help maximise the business’ full potential. With Barclays’ backing, her expansion plans have now become a reality.”
