Christian Doidge Signs New Two-Year Deal
We are delighted to announce that Christian Doidge has put pen-to-paper on a new two-year deal with Hibernian FC!
The 29-year-old Welsh striker has committed his future to the club by signing a contract extension that’ll run until 2024.
Doidge became a Hibee in the summer of 2019 before scoring his first league goals for the club a few months later, bagging a hat-trick away at St Johnstone.
It was under the guidance of Jack Ross where the striker really excelled. He scored 19 goals in all competitions in his first season with us, before scoring 13 during the last campaign.
Despite missing large parts of the 2021/22 season due to Covid and an Achilles injury, the striker has scored two league goals in two games and has recently returned to training ahead of our Premier Sports Cup semi-final against Rangers.
“I’m delighted,” said Christian Doidge. “As soon as they approached me about signing an extension it was a really easy decision to make.
“This is the club I want to play for, and I’ve enjoyed my time here more than anywhere else.
“This is a massive football club, with a really big fanbase, and the coaching staff have been brilliant with me. I’m really enjoying my football and I hope I can help the team to be successful.”
First Team Manager Jack Ross added: “It was important for us to agree a new contract with Christian because we want to keep players like him at the club.
“Strikers are always going to be judged on their goal return, Christian’s record in this regard has been really good. Furthermore, his all-round contribution is of great value to the team.
“Alongside his ability, he’s a good person, a strong character, and he wants to help the team move forward.”
