Burges Salmon welcomes newly qualified solicitors in Scotland

Posted: 9th September 2025

Independent UK law firm Burges Salmon has welcomed its first cohort of newly qualified solicitors in Edinburgh who completed the firm’s market-leading training programme.

Eva Hunter and Marcus Jones were admitted to the roll of solicitors earlier this month, becoming the first trainees to qualify in Scotland through Burges Salmon’s programme. They join the firm’s Banking and finance and Construction and engineering teams respectively.

Danny Lee, partner and head of the Edinburgh office, comments: “Over the past two years, Eva and Marcus have shown exceptional commitment and capability, and we’re thrilled to see them begin their careers as solicitors with us in Scotland. We were also delighted to welcome our new trainees last week and remain committed to nurturing homegrown talent as our Edinburgh office continues to thrive.”

Alice Bretherton, Chief People Officer at Burges Salmon, adds: “We’re proud of our fantastic cohort of trainees and apprentices who choose to stay and grow their careers with us. The quality of work we offer, our culture, and our commitment to being a brilliant place to work are key reasons why exceptional people choose Burges Salmon.”

Alongside the success in Edinburgh, Burges Salmon has retained 22 newly qualified solicitors in its Bristol office, further demonstrating the strength and appeal of its training programme.

Burges Salmon has grown exponentially since its Edinburgh launch in 2019, in that time expanding both its headcount, from a founding team of just seven to now a 100+-strong office, and its Atria One premises on Morrison Street. The firm has established itself as a law firm of choice in the Scottish market and is regularly engaged in some of the most nationally significant projects in the region.
