The firm is celebrating the continued growth of its Edinburgh office with three new appointments across its Banking and Finance and Projects teams.

The firm recently celebrated the second anniversary of the launch of its base in the Scottish capital, reporting a number of significant milestones achieved by the Edinburgh team since its inception as well as an increase in headcount of 50 per cent in the past year alone.

The latest appointments further bolster the now 30-strong team, with Sophie Black appointed to the role of senior associate in the Projects team and associate Samir Younes and solicitor Natalie Bennett both joining the firm’s Banking and Finance team.

Sophie is dual qualified in Scotland and in England and Wales and has extensive experience advising public and private sector clients on a wide range of infrastructure projects and commercial contracts across the UK and abroad. Having worked in-house at Edinburgh Airport and completed secondments for various public and private sector clients, Sophie has first-hand experience of the challenges faced by clients in the infrastructure sector.

Samir joins Burges Salmon with experience advising a variety of lenders and borrowers on a range of financings including real estate, energy and infrastructure, funds and general corporate lending. Samir has acted for clients on a variety of cross-border and international transactions.

Recently qualified in Scotland, Natalie has experience working with clients from a variety of different sectors including corporate finance and real estate.
