Burges Salmon named Law Firm of the Year at The Legal Business Awards 2025

Posted: 1st October 2025

Edinburgh-based law firm Burges Salmon has been named ‘Law Firm of the Year’ at the prestigious Legal Business Awards 2025, held in London on 30 September to celebrate excellence across the legal profession.

With revenue up over 60% since the launch of its ‘BAmbitious’ strategy in 2021, the accolade recognises Burges Salmon’s standout financial performance with the firm topping the Top 50 growth rankings in 2024 and sustaining that trajectory in 2025. As one of the UK legal sector’s strongest performers, the firm’s success reflects its strategic investments across client service, people, premises, technology and its responsible business agenda.

Over the years, Burges Salmon has built enduring client partnerships across a range of sectors and has advised on some of the UK’s most groundbreaking and nationally significant projects. These include executing one of the UK’s largest hotel portfolio sales, guiding US client AOTI through the largest AIM IPO since 2021, deploying its market-leading expertise in nuclear and fusion law to support all of the UK’s nuclear-licensed sites, advising on most major offshore wind farms across the UK, and facilitating the most significant natural capital land purchase in UK history.

A highlight of the firm’s winning entry is its innovation and digital enablement strategy and how Burges Salmon has made the right technology choices, aligning strategic thinking on technology, data, processes, change and training to enrich client service delivery. With a human approach underpinning its technology adoption, the firm works to ensure its clients and people feel the benefits of its continued investments.

Also commended is the firm’s award-winning workplace culture, rooted in collaboration, openness and inclusivity, and its commitment to responsible business. The firm continues to take positive action on ESG and works closely with communities to deliver high social value impact.

Commenting on the award, Roger Bull, Managing Partner at Burges Salmon, says: “We’re incredibly proud to be named ‘Law Firm of the Year’ at the Legal Business Awards 2025. This recognition is a powerful endorsement of our people, our collaborative culture, and our commitment to delivering outstanding service to our clients. It reflects the strength of our values-led approach and the strategic investments we’re making in our people, our clients, and our communities.

From innovation and technology to responsible business and workplace culture, we will continue to drive the firm forward with ambition and purpose.”

Burges Salmon’s Senior Partner Ross Fairley adds: “This is very welcome validation of what we have built and are continuing to build at Burges Salmon. In a changing law firm landscape, we believe what we can offer is ever more attractive to clients and to talented people.”
