BTO Strengthens Private Client Expertise with Partner Promotion

Posted: 3rd November 2025

BTO Solicitors LLP (BTO) is pleased to announce the promotion of Julie McMahon to Partner within its highly regarded Wills, Estates and Succession Planning team, based in BTO’s Glasgow office.

With extensive experience advising individuals, families and business owners, Julie specialises in succession planning, asset protection, inheritance tax mitigation, wills, trusts, executries and later life planning.  Her dual qualification as a solicitor and chartered tax accountant enables her to deliver fully integrated legal and tax advice, offering clients practical, forward-thinking solutions.

With a strong track record in winding up complex estates involving businesses and international assets, Julie is also recognised by clients and peers for her work in creating and managing asset protection trusts tailored to her clients’ unique needs.

Speaking about her promotion, Julie McMahon said:

“I’m thrilled to join the partnership and continue developing BTO’s private client offering. I’m passionate about helping clients protect what matters most — their families, businesses and legacies — and supporting them in planning for the future with confidence. I look forward to working closely with our wider team to further strengthen our private client services.”

Grant Hunter, Managing Partner at BTO, commented:

“Julie’s technical expertise and commitment to delivering exceptional client service make her an outstanding addition to the partnership. Her promotion reflects her professional excellence and her contribution to the wider legal community – including her role as a tutor on the Diploma in Professional Legal Practice, helping to shape the next generation of lawyers.”
