Brodies named UK National/Regional Law Firm of the Year at Legal Business Awards

Posted: 24th March 2017

award winBrodies LLP was last night named UK National/Regional Law Firm of the Year at the Legal Business Awards in London – the second time that the firm has received the accolade in the past three years.

Now in their 20th year, the Legal Business Awards, hosted by Legal Business magazine, recognise the achievements of lawyers working in the UK and overseas. The UK National/Regional award, which Brodies won previously in 2015, is presented to the UK firm headquartered outside London that has made the most significant strategic advances over the past year.

The judges’ decision was based on research carried out by Legal Business, Legal 500 and independent legal experts into the quality of legal services, sustained growth and new business wins.

Commenting on Brodies’ performance, the judging panel said: “Scotland’s major legal success story of the last decade posted yet another exceptional year in 2015/16, cementing its position as the leading Scottish independent. With the independence referendum, the oil price collapse and Brexit creating difficult times north of the border, to post market-leading financial performance and organic growth is exceptional.”

Bill Drummond, Brodies’ Managing Partner, received the award on behalf of the firm at the ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel.

He said: “Receiving this award is a great honour for everyone at Brodies, especially noting the excellent firms which submitted and were shortlisted. We must, of course, first and foremost thank our clients for recognising the investment we’ve made over the years in our efforts to provide them with legal services of the highest standard in Scotland, and we’re obviously pleased to see that this has also been recognised by peers in our profession.

“As always, our clients will continue to be our focus and we will strive to support them to the very best of our abilities through what promises to be a challenging period, as the UK Government embarks on its Brexit negotiations to determine our future relationship with the EU.”
