Brightwater in ‘touching distance’ of £5m in contract revenues as it rounds off third year of trading

Posted: 20th June 2019

Musselburgh-based retail water supplier Brightwater has surpassed £4.75m in contracted revenues after its third year of trading. The company, which provides water and waste water services to businesses and other non-domestic customers, increased its contracted revenues by more than £1.6m in the last 12 months and is currently managing more than 3,600 commercial premises across Scotland.

Brightwater’s continued growth has come on the back of significant new businesses wins over the past year. New customers include Thistle Healthcare, Optos, Simon Howie Butchers, Highland Industrial Supplies and United Wholesale Grocers.

Brightwater was set up by its Managing Director Rich Rankin and Spotless Commercial Cleaning founder Roger Green. Its board includes Chairman Steve Langmead, a former chief executive of Capita Scotland and existing non-executive director at IT firm Commsworld. Last month the company announced it had secured more than £350K in private external investment to help further develop its package of customer-focused support services. It is also investing in its team with plans to announce new senior appointments later in the summer.

Brightwater’s business model is based on supporting Scottish-based SME water customers by delivering cost savings through competitive pricing, efficiency optimisation and outstanding customer service. The company underlines its customer commitment through its Small Business Charter which sets out a number of clear service pledges including easy switching from other suppliers, advice on water efficiency and usage reduction, water audits, bill validation and rebates.

Managing Director Rich Rankin said: “We’re delighted with the growth and progress of the business over the last year which has been achieved by offering high service standards and delivering cost savings for customers. We’re also excited about our future as this continued upward momentum along with the recent internal investment ensures we are well-positioned to deliver significant growth going forward.”

Brightwater co-founder Roger Green said: “Our focus on providing added value water and wastewater services to Scottish SMEs continues to deliver value to the business. Brightwater is currently within touching distance of £5m in contracted revenues – with the additional planned investment in people and customer services, we are confident we will achieve our aim of surpassing the £12m mark within the next three to five years.”
