Be Inspired in Developing Youth Athletes

An inaugural Athletic Evolution conference aimed at inspiring individuals on the latest research, theory, and practices in the field of strength and conditioning of youth athletes’ will be taking place in Edinburgh in April.

The Continuing Professional Development (CPD) conference, aimed at coaching staff, teachers, instructors, school PE staff, students and athletes aged over 18 years, is being held at Edinburgh Leisure’s Head Office, Vantage Point, 3 Cultins Road, Edinburgh EH11 4DF on Sunday, 15 April 2018 from 9.30-17.00 hours.

Keynote speakers include:  Simon Brundish of StrenghtLab – Building Superheroes – Developing a system to overcome poor physical literacy; Shane Fitzgibbon from Connacht Tae Kwon Do – Training for a bulletproof trunk; Howard Green from Bolton Tennis Arena – The use of coordination training to enhance skill development; and Dr Jonathan Griffin from Fulham FC – Growing up strong – maturation monitoring in a professional football academy.

Tickets cost: £40 (student) or £60 (general).  Conference tickets can be bought from www.eventbrite.co.uk (Athletic Evolution Conference 2018). Ticket price includes lunch and refreshments.

The conference is being delivered by various partners including Edinburgh Leisure; Athletic Evolution; Canalview and Craigmillar Community Sports Hubs, as part of their commitment in delivering Sport Scotland’s Lottery Funded Community Sports Hub programme in Edinburgh.

Although each Hub is unique, there are five guiding principles which include:

– Growth in participation

– Understanding community need

– Supporting community leadership

– Offering a range of sport

– Ensuring all the right people are working together
