Balfour Beatty has featured on ITV’s Border Life programme, providing insight into the restoration works taking place on the historic Riddings Viaduct, a striking Victorian structure that spans the Anglo-Scottish border.

In the interview, Robert Robertson, Project Manager, shares the significance of preserving the mid-1800s bridge. He explains how the restoration, carried out on behalf of the Historical Railways Estate, involves repairing defects to maintain the structure for future generations.

Speaking about the restoration, Robert said: “The chaps that are actually carrying out the repairs are utilising a rope and access cradle system to abseil off and carry out the repairs from the ropes themselves. It’s hugely rewarding… when you first arrive on the site and you can see the repairs that are required, to then walking away at the end of it, it gives you great satisfaction.”Watch the full ITV feature and see the restoration works in action from 16:03 here.
