Balfour Beatty features in The Scotsman and STV discussing the transformation of North Bridge in Edinburgh
Balfour Beatty has featured in The Scotsman and STV discussing the transformation of the North Bridge in Edinburgh, which is to re-emerge with new paintwork after an £86 million refurbishment.
The features follow a recent behind-the-scenes visit, during which the final coats of gold, red, and blue paint were seen being applied to the original Victorian detailing of North Bridge. The visit also highlighted the meticulous restoration of the 1906 King’s Own Scottish Borderers memorial, which was carefully cleaned with hot water and hand tools to preserve its historic character.
Talking about the progress, Rory McFadden, Project Manager at Balfour Beatty said: “There had been no substantial works carried out since the 1990s and all the structural steelwork was covered in a thick bituminous paint. We’ve started applying the final gold paint to the structure, which has given everybody a bit of a morale boost to get it over the line.”
